As used twice in The Bill last week. Is this really a word.

"I want the evidence forensicated, the villain arrestified and the area cordonedofficated"

Sounds like a Bush-ism!

iBundle · 16/07/2008 15:51

noooooooooooooooooooo

StealthPolarBear · 16/07/2008 15:53

cordonofficated
Also, doesn't 'forensic' mean to be used in court? People use it instead of 'very detailed' which i don't think is right

UnquietDad · 16/07/2008 16:01

"Let's do dendrochronology on it"

wigparty · 16/07/2008 16:06

I thought not! I love that show. I also love that every now and then they roll out a new electronic whiteboard gadget and insist on putting it into every possible scene to show it off.

Nothing is as sexy as the clear perspex boards and chinagraph pens they use on "Waking The Dead". I want some for my classes.

iBundle · 16/07/2008 16:10

have interviewed dendrochronologists - in Belfast and Sheffield iirc

wigparty · 16/07/2008 16:19

I just had to go and find out what a dendrochronologist does!

I was quoting Bonekickers

iBundle · 16/07/2008 16:20

oh god

switched bonekickers off after literally seconds

Ellbell · 16/07/2008 16:21

It may not be a real word, but it is what a real Sun Hill copper would say, innit?

My old flat in SW4 featured in an episode of The Bill once. (It was a prostitute's flat in the programme.) [absurdly proud emoticon]

iBundle · 16/07/2008 16:23

mike leigh's latest film was filmed at the bottom of our rd...

we used to wave to them on the way to school, last summer. sigh. those were the days..

Ellbell · 16/07/2008 16:24

That is way more impressive than my former flat featuring on The Bill.

iBundle · 16/07/2008 16:25

sorry ellbell

one of my old flatmates was sound recordist on The Bill

they apparently had fabbo caterers

wigparty · 16/07/2008 16:27

Ah Bonekickers. Luckily I was warned not to even give that a go. Is it as bad as everyone has said?

OP posts:
iBundle · 16/07/2008 16:28

worse

AllFallDown · 16/07/2008 18:48

The greater problem is the constant misuse of "forensics", as in media reports of "forensics experts combed the scene". Well, yes. All police should be forensics experts, since forensic means of or pertaining to the law. As opposed to forensic science, which is science used in the investigation of crime, and which is what the experts they refer to are using.

UnquietDad · 16/07/2008 21:35

Is it a kind of backforming?...
