Does anyone else see red mist when people say "can i lend your bag/shoes/pen etc or "will you borrow me your bag/shoes/pen ?? No you cannot borrow anything from me you illiterate sod is the only reply appropriate in the circumstances, methinks.

It is WRONG.

A similiar thing happens with "That'll learn you"

Yes, Pillock (lovely name!). I ALWAYS correct people when they say this because it's so irritatingly stupid.

oh I can't bear it and as a teacher I hear it far too often, 'miss can I lend a pen?' 'no thank you, I don't need one'

I used to work for a loan broker assessing the calls. It used to drive me mad when advisors would ask "How much were you looking to lend?"!!!! Nooo they are the customer- they are borrowing. Do they not even understand the basic principles of their job?!

I've never come across this but I'm sure I wouldn't be able to stop myself correcting them !

I used to work with a guy that seemed to think bought and brought were the same.
