Eachother
Thankyou

I struggled to type this as auto correct didn't like the above (unsurprisingly).

I've made mention of the phenomenon several times on here. It seems to have started with "alot", and has now expanded to include "aswell", "infront", "atleast", "infact", "incase" and several others I've forgotten. It's not good for my blood pressure, but I just have to accept that it's unstoppable. Language evolves, right?

And title capitalisation is different in French.

Days of the week and months are lowercase in French.
In German, all nouns have a capital. German also uses a lot of compound nouns.

Inbetween and ofcourse are two others.

I hate them all too, but I think "today" and "tomorrow" were originally separate words so perhaps we'll get used to them. I've definitely seen "to-day", which is a sort of halfway stage, on old posters in museums. Perhaps "halfway" was also originally two words...?

@Dovesono You’re right, of course. I’ve also seen to-day and to-night used historically, and I’ve come across “teen-ager” in more recent material. The evolutionary process is bound to be more rapid due to the internet, and I hate to admit it but “alot” is becoming a lot (nearly!) less jarring on the eye than it was only a couple of years ago.
I will still die on the “loose” versus “lose” hill, though!

It took me a very long time before I finally gave in and stopped using an apostrophe before bus and phone!
