This drives me mental. They are drawers doe people actually pronounce them as draws??????????

Drawers is pronounced draws. Unless you are the Queen or Brian Sewell.

Sorry prettybird, you're right: didn't mean to be dialect-ist!

But I'm a northerner and say draws and ion for drawers and iron, so whereabouts is the divide? North of Manchester? East of the Pennines? Or are we talking south-west?

draws and ion for me too, but then I think I also say garridge instead of garage so I'm probably a bit common.

The man in the Iron Bru advert pronounces the R so I'm assuming it's a scottish thing.

Really though, there are earthquakes and famines and civil wars and all sorts.
