This drives me mental. They are drawers doe people actually pronounce them as draws??????????

LOL of course people who spell them draws pronounce them as such, always makes me laugh at school when the kids write somethink, because thats how they say it!

I have honestly never heard someone pronounce drawers as draws - is it an english thing (I'm scottish)

I worked with someone who used to write "chester draws".

I couldn't believe that someone could reach the age of 35+, do a degree etc and still not realise that it is chest of drawers.

I am really struggling with this, I write it as drawers (because that is the correct spelling), but I am sitting here saying "draws" and "drawers" out loud (and "chest of drawers") and I really can't hear the difference.

John Lewis even had it printed as "draws" on their wooden advent calendar! I almost took it back!!

I've always pronounced drawers and draws the same.
Although I did know someone who got mad if "drawing" was pronounced as "draw-ring".

drawers is pronounced draw erz and not draw z

it must be a dialect thing, maybe scots or northeners are more likely to emphasise the R's in words?

i just can't believe that anyone would pronounce iron as ion, and drawers as draws too. maybe i don't get out enough
