"Ferrule ratbags"

There's a woman on several local Facebook groups who, whenever there's mention of 'youths' being mildly disagreeable, describes them as "ferrule ratbags".

I'm enraged by this every time I see it (which is currently about three times a week).

I really want to reply with a comment about aglets or such, but I fear it would be wasted.

Ooh that's a great one - thank you for making me smile!
A local child was named Feral on its birth certificate, about 10 years ago. I wonder what the parents thought it meant?

As with so many of these Chester Draws, I had to say ferrule out loud to work out what on earth it was supposed to be.

I knew a woman named Fereal (pronounced in 3 syllables). She said it meant something like beautiful or elegant. I wonder whether that was the name they were thinking of? (I also know someone with a yacht named Fereal! )

Me too!

As for the name, maybe they were thinking of ethereal? Not that it is a name, but a similar sound?

I was only thinking about variations of feral earlier today, because I see them all the time on Fb. The one that crops up most is ferrel or ferrell. It drives me mad.

Oh I wondered if this was going to be a follow-on from the recent thread about hordes of young women using walking sticks or swagger sticks as a fashion item!

Ferrule Ratbags made me think of Saga Louts.

Could they be thinking of self defence? Hatpins served this purpose in the past.

Crikey. Did they perhaps intend to name their child Pharrell?
