My! boss! always! uses! too! many! exclamation! marks! in! emails!

PrettyCandles · 27/06/2008 14:08

Quite so.

happystory · 27/06/2008 14:09

As a student I once wrote a wildly enthusiastic postcard to a friend. ('It's great here! We're having so much fun!!! 'etc etc)

She wrote back (witheringly) 'Don't use so many exclamation marks. I know how to react, thanks'

Sorry - I do this all the time (especially on here).

schneebly · 27/06/2008 14:13

Had to really restrain myself there.

PortAndLemon · 27/06/2008 14:14

As Terry Pratchett wrote, multiple exclamation marks are a sure sign of a deranged mind...

TigerFeet · 27/06/2008 14:15

I do this all the time and then go back and delete them as I am quite aware that it makes me look like some kind of nutter. !.

MehgaLegs · 27/06/2008 14:16

I have been driven mad for the past few months by our PTA chair who goes totally overboard with the !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! after every sentence, in every farking email or letter she sends.

I think she is trying to get across how mad and zany she is but it just makes me want to punch her.

happystory · 27/06/2008 14:19

NormaStanleyFletcher · 27/06/2008 14:22

I have to stop myself doing it sometimes. Sorry about your AIBU thread, I just couldn't resist.

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/06/2008 14:33

I know I use them a lot, am aware of it and try to hold back.
I don't like to use mn emoticons too often either, but it's difficult not to
