Curbing the use of curb?

Can people please curb posting about parking on curbs, and park on kerbs, or fully on the road if it’s wide enough.

In the Parish Council minutes of the English village in which I live it was written 'curb' about 110 years ago. I have been used to spelling it 'kerb'. In this century I have seen it written 'curb' in the USA. I think it might be one of those words where the Americans kept a word and we changed and now it's filtering back from the USA.
