Of course it is but don't look for any of the other MN threads about this saying - it'll make your head explode! I have to hide them or else I end up banging my head on the table at the wilful lack of understanding.

I'm constantly having friendly but heated arguments with my young adult DS about this one. It's 'think', of course it is. In the context, 'thing' makes no sense at all. How my very intelligent, well read offspring doesn't accept that is beyond me!

I understand that ‘think’ was the original saying but thing makes sense in that it is at least a noun!

I know it's think but I usually hear people say thing. In my head both make sense in that another think means you are going to have to rethink and thing meaning something else is going to come along. I can't get worked up about it as it has just evolved.

One earlier thread referenced a newspaper article which said the OED quoted 'another thing coming' from 'Only Fools and Horses', series one episode six. I found the programme, and David Jason definitely says 'another think'. Though blocked at the time, I have since accessed the OED quote. It is in the definition of 'khazi' (also in the same sentence). It seems the subsequently published scripts, whatever form they are in, may well say 'thing'. However - original script or not - Jason gets it right. He uses a definite glottal stop to indicate the 'k'.
