Foot stall

When did this become ubiquitous? Not only is foot stool turned into foot stall in virtually every ad on Facebook selling sites, but yesterday I actually saw it on a sign in a furniture shop!

There's no stopping it now, is there?

Is a foot stall the same as a poof? (Also seen on Facebook).

There's only one possible reason. There's a lot of thick people about.

One can understand the occasional slip-up by the dyslexic for instance, but not this avalanche of sheer dim-wittedness.
