The end?

Is AI bringing about the end of the ? I never use one now when I ask it a question; it just seems like a redundancy when only a bot is reading the post and it’s obviously a query. Might be just me though!

Is there a good reason not to use a question mark at the end of a question?

The thing that concerns me is the proliferation of ? at the end of a statement.
E.g.
I went home straight away ?

Bad punctuation isn’t the fault of artificial intelligence; it’s the result of human ignorance, stupidity or (perhaps most often) just laziness.

AI only learns from what is fed into it. GIGO.

You could think of the prompt/query that you give AI as simply being a search term, just the same as when you google. There is no real reason to think that every prompt needs to be a sentence.

When I use AI, rather than googling, I tend to give quite long and complex prompts, so I do use proper sentence structure and punctuation.

But if I were just asking it how to cook fava beans or whatever, I don't see anything wrong with talking to it the same as I do to google - i.e. informally, in extended search terms rather than sentences.

Personally, I think I would use proper punctuation for that sort of short query, because I like talking to AI as if it were a person. But there is nothing wrong with not doing that.

Laziness my arse. I’m talking about a shift in usage, prompted by an entirely new communications interface.

I'd enter "fava beans cooking time" or 'how do I cook fava beans?".
I'd probably get into a loop of results giving me inventive ways of serving baked beans.
I'd then type 'Why is co-pilot worse than useless?' to which it would give me reasons and helpful video links.
