I despair of M&S.

Blooper aside, when are they going to realise that adverts like this will deter their formerly loyal (40+) customer base from setting foot inside their stores?

I could see the two top pictures and the top parts of the bottom ones, so I wondered where the blooper was. Then I clicked on the lower part and it turned into a bigger picture and then I could see 'love's'. Do you think they do it on purpose so we notice it and look harder?

What’s wrong with the advert?

What’s wrong with the advert?

They are trying to appeal to a demographic of customers who wouldn't set foot inside M&S in a million years.

Whereas their formerly loyal customer base of middle-aged+ shoppers who'd buy plain black court shoes, cardigans, socks, underwear & bras, nightwear, basic trousers & shorts, nice summer dresses, work clothes, sandals, the occasional handbag and all manner of general clothing items are no longer catered for.

I can't remember the last time I bought anything other than a sandwich in M&S.

I couldn't see anything wrong because I could only see the writing on the top two pictures. When I clicked on the bottom left picture - model in white - I could see the writing that goes with it:-'Mel love's this'.

Maybe you are wrong? I buy work clothes and some basics in there and I’m in my 30s, the kids clothes are good quality and I often spot something I like. I struggle to see why that puts other customers off

I meant what’s wrong with it asides from the blooper

But they still sell all those sorts of things. Very conventional "uniformy" workwear, loads of different cuts of trousers and Affordable Tops, sensible shoes, socks, nightware, underwear .... ye gods the underwear! Ranks and ranks and RANKS of different kinds of Sensible Bras, and every permutation of pant.
They just also have their little corners of fancier clothes - and you don't have to be too bold or fashion-forward to find something wearable in those corners
