They did this with deodorants a few months ago - I pointed it out to the assistant who said 'Well, you don't have to buy 3....'

It was online. I restrained myself from emailing them.

I guess in the shop - assuming you wanted three in the first place rather than just being suckered into buying three - the thing to do would be to take 3 packets and only those to the checkout. And ask them to process each one separately. Then - three times - count out 64p in small change, taking a very long time...
