OK only in Pedants’ Corner can I write this, but three education errors drive me wild annoy me (semi light-hearted)
- Btec (or BTec or if you must, BTEC) – it’s not Btech (still less BTECH), the tec is not short for technology, it’s an acronym (Business and Technology Education Council). BTEC if you say Be-Tee-Ee-Cee. The BBC insists on BTec which I guess makes sense as you say Be-Tec. Personally I prefer Btec but anyway, no h.
- IGCSE – is an international qualification, it stands for International General Certificate of Education. It’s not an Apple product so iGCSE is all kinds of wrong.
- Business GCSE (or A level) – not Business Studies. It’s not been called Business Studies for many years.
And breathe.
