or
"Simon walked over to where she laid and sniffed the glass"
or something completely different?

but it should probably be "Simon realised that sniffing the grass next to where she was lying would be a really sad thing to do so he went and had a wank instead"

(actually, was lying may be better)

lol, well it was his mother's glass, full of vodka, that's why he sniffed it, after he murdered someone, so I think it fits better than a wank
