Which is correct:

Ran out of ideas for the summer?

Run out of ideas for the summer?

Am proof-reading an article, DP and I cannot agree on which one it is. (I'm not saying which one I think it is, just in case I'm wrong )

Run, if the sentence is complete.

Past participle

BecauseImWorthIt · 08/06/2008 14:51

Run

SheikYerbouti · 08/06/2008 14:52

It's the sub-heading to an article, so yes it's complete.

(I was right then )

I suppose the sentence in its entirety should be

"Have you run out of ideas for the summer?" but it's not catchy enough for a sub-heading

I can't re-write it.

It has been written by our scary Editor-in-Chief who doth not respond well to any form of criticism

I would, but I envisage "P45" "desk" and "close the door on your way out" so I will keep quiet.

Run out of ideas for the summer?

Is fine.

It's actually perfect tense: I have run out. I have been to Ireland. I have eaten cheese, etc.

SheikYerbouti · 08/06/2008 15:10

So that means I was right and DP was wrong.

That's made my day.
