It’s a moot point. A point that could be open to debate. Not a silent point.

Yes! So many people get this wrong. Very annoying !

upinaballoon · 03/09/2025 20:50

Yes, moot.

MsAmerica · 05/09/2025 21:58

Okay, it's wrong. But it's still funny.

😆

SchnizelVonKrumm · 05/09/2025 21:59

It's like... a cow's opinion. It is moo.

What exactly is a moot though?

Is it like Pingu with a really blocked up nose or something?

It's a mock trial/debate between barristers. So if something is a moot point, it's something one could analyse/debate from an academic perspective, but where it doesn't matter which of the possible answers is correct.

It's even pronounced differently.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 05/09/2025 22:20

A mute point sounds like it would be a really damp squid…

BitterTits · 05/09/2025 22:20

Step foot 🤢

No, the 't' on the end is mute...

I was just about to write the same!

Someone I work with says mute point in emails occasionally (and in work conversations) and I always want to correct him, but don’t because I think it would be rude - would it be?
