Sobeit

I've seen "sobeit" twice this week (not sure if it was the same poster), and I quite like it (unlike aswell, abit* etc. which are maddening).

Albeit must have been three separate words once. Sobeit is quite a neat development, and makes an already old-fashioned phrase look even more quaint.

*I don't even understand how these happen, as my laptop and phone auto-correct them.

My OED informs me that sobeit is an existing word albeit an archaic form of expression.

Interesting! Well, it might be coming back.

I approve of its return. I tend to think the use of slightly archaic words like 'sobeit' demonstrate a great level of facundity. 😁

I've always known it as the meaning of 'Amen'.
