‘Wild’

Is this a MN thing or more widespread? I keep seeing this word crop up, with context to suggest it means unreasonable.

Has anyone else noticed? Is it perhaps from a TV show I don’t watch?

Should say, I do understand about the likes of ‘wild accusations’ and ‘wild assumptions’ etc. Common use; I get it. Just a new way of using it starting and I’m curious.

Does anyone know what I mean?

Yes. I have noticed this over the last few years. “Wild” now being used to mean- slightly surprising, shocking, unexpected, interesting. Or as a response to being told something slightly strange or unexpected. “That’s wild!” Age groups 30s and under.
Also being used instead of “wow!”
Needless to say I find it annoying.

I've seen it a lot on here and it gets on my nerves.

It’s used as a more acceptable replacement where previously people would have said mad, mental, nuts, bonkers, crackers. I’ve stopped referring to irrational / unexpected / surprising things using those words so tend to say wild instead
