I am overwhelmed (lighthearted) by the errors I see on here every day.

"Rest bite"

"I am managing my responsibility's"

"There were plenty of dad's there"

"I can't bare it"

"I want to loose weight"

"Only if I have too"

Totally my problem. I need to get a life.

I read your list of sentances containing errors.
I was puzzled by Totally my problem. I need to get a life, as I could see nothing wrong in it. I then noticed the lack of inverted commas.

My MiL never knew the correct use of apostrophes. She used to say "If I'm not sure I put one in anyway"

AllWhitNoWhoo · 09/05/2025 16:17

"Loose" is used so much that I fear we will lose "lose".
I am even questioning it myself as I type it 🤣.

I will risk posting again. It was entirely my own fault that I misspelt "sentences".
I have a very accurate spell checker, but I failed to ask her to check my post with the error in it. (Maybe we are excited as we will celebrate 21 years of marriage next week).
I checked and Grammarly told me that the past tense of misspell is misspelled in American English. However, in other varieties of English, misspelt is also acceptable.

Ahh, fair enough @OldJohn My posts descended into the absurd, so I can't talk!

I always feel it's better to omit an apostrophe if you're not sure, rather than pepper you writing with unnecessary ones.

I used to say, "If in doubt, leave it out"

It offends me less if they're missing.
