Each to their own

Whenever I see written “each to their own” my brain tells me it should be “to each their own”

Who’s right? My brain or the rest of the world 🤣?

I’m actually not sure which is correct, but I prefer the sound of ‘to each their own’.

It should actually be ‘To each his own’, but, presumably because of the clumsiness of saying his/her, ‘their’ has tended to be substituted.

I’m not particularly bothered by ‘Each to their own’. It’s not the monstrous fiesta of wrongness that is ‘The proof is in the pudding’, which makes me imagine Apprentice contestants desperately seeking the meaning of life in the lemony depths of a Sussex Pond pudding.
