"My fav"

I've seen this a lot on social media comments and it doesn't make sense. Where did it come from?

This morning I saw "my fav Ibiza" - are they saying it's their favourite Ibiza because as far as I know there's only one Ibiza so you can't have a favourite?

I've seen it as comments on photos too, usually pictures of people. It's weird!

Shouldn’t it have an e on the end?

Plus surely it should be ‘my fave’?

I'd have thought so yes. It's everywhere!

We used to ‘fav’ something didn’t we? When Twitter had a star instead of a heart? Maybe it’s come from there.
