Had to come over here and vent after reading other threads. 'A lot' is two words, 'a bit' is two words and 'in front' is two words. Why do so many people squash them together? Will they eventually become single words (as 'almost' or 'weekend' etc. have)? And have people seen other examples?

Haven’t seen abit as much as I have seen alot! First time I’ve written those words and my autocorrect has tried to change them. Are people actively overriding their autocorrect because they are so sure they are right?!

Maybe. Or is it that they type it so often, their phones 'learn' this new word? Yes - 'abit' was a new one for me too, but I'm sure it will gain popularity!

See also "incase", "inbetween" and "eachother". Absolutely rife on this site. It'sawful.
