There will be others. Why have people started adding 'off' to verbs that don't need it?

What do 'to bin off' or 'to sack off' mean? Who's doing it? That woman on Radio 4 in the mornings?

There was a trending thread earlier where someone said she was being binned off for a parcel and there it seemed to mean 'we made an arrangement and my partner cancelled at the last minute'. It's quite a dramatic turn of phrase and I thought it would mean she'd ended the relationship altogether. I often see people telling others here to sack someone off and it seems to mean 'get rid of them from your life' rather than 'fire them from a job'. Maybe the off changes the meaning of the verb.
