I spent half an hour on hold whilst trying to book an appointment to see my dentist and had to listen to that on repeat. My eyes were twitching by the time they answered the phone.

’Currently’ MEANS ‘at this time’! Pick one! Angry

Infuriating!
my pet peeve is at the airport, ‘the last and final call’ for the flight - argh!

Dilbertian · 14/03/2025 23:22

I don't mind 'last and final'. It's a tautology, a rhetorical device for emphasis.

So why does 'currently busy at this time' just seem ignorant?

butterpuffed · 15/03/2025 09:14

I think both are now acceptable but 'All our receptionists...' sounds better than 'All of...'

I hate it when people talk about "pre-planning". What other kind is there?

I also really hate it when people say things like “3am in the morning”…what other 3am is there?!
