Is this the new "on the weekend"?

It's "at Christmas[time]" or "on Christmas Day".

Ha! I'm far from being a pedant but I just read that on a thread and it did make me bristle 😊

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 22/12/2024 14:45

Cindy Loo Who has been saying it for YEARS.

Not a new thing.

HappyDartsmas · 22/12/2024 14:46

Not as annoying as 'on accident' 🤬

Probably the same thread that prompted me to post! Grin

Et tu, Dr Zeus? In our edition of the book all she says is " Santa Claus, why / why are you taking our Christmas tree, why?"

I had to check, otherwise Christmas would be ruined in this pedant's house Xmas Grin

(I'd get out more, but breastfeeding DC atm...)

I mean in the movie.

She says, “No one should be alone on Christmas.”

HoppityBun · 22/12/2024 16:36

It always sounds strange to me when people say “on the weekend” instead of “at the weekend” but it seems to be fairly common usage

Phew! If it's just in the film, that's ok

It sounds strange because it's incorrect!

Cindy Lou talks in a cutesy way (my son has complained about this at some length) so I am not sure can be described as a definitive authority on the matter.

On Christmas = on Christmas Day.

At Christmas = during the general Christmas season.

It doesn't bother me.

I wish I lived such a carefree life where it didn't bother me Xmas Grin
