Is this the new "on the weekend"?

It's "at Christmas[time]" or "on Christmas Day".

Ha! I'm far from being a pedant but I just read that on a thread and it did make me bristle 😊

I had to check, otherwise Christmas would be ruined in this pedant's house

I mean in the movie.

She says, “No one should be alone on Christmas.”

It always sounds strange to me when people say “on the weekend” instead of “at the weekend” but it seems to be fairly common usage

Phew! If it's just in the film, that's ok

It sounds strange because it's incorrect!

Cindy Lou talks in a cutesy way (my son has complained about this at some length) so I am not sure can be described as a definitive authority on the matter.

On Christmas = on Christmas Day.

At Christmas = during the general Christmas season.

It doesn't bother me.

I wish I lived such a carefree life where it didn't bother me
