I understand the need to carry advertising but this is making my eyeballs itch

At least they changed the 'Share your pictures of your autumn dog's'

LineRunnerReturns · 05/11/2024 11:20

I feel like John Cleese's centurion in Life of Brian now.

'TEEN IS deserve products designed for their skin?' and slapping BrianMN on the back of the head for this.

Metaphorically, of course. I'm not a violent centurion.

'TEEN IS deserve products designed for their skin'

I'm hearing this as if uttered by the Cookie Monster.

Alas, even correctly punctuated it would be a fairly nonsensical claim. So perhaps the Cookie Monster would be a great brand ambassador??

SoloSofa24 · 05/11/2024 11:28

It is not the first time that a Mumsnet advertorial-style post has had a glaring grammatical error in it. Maybe they need to get whoever writes them to run them past an editor first?

SnowFrogJelly · 05/11/2024 11:30

Ouch

Oh, my mistake, they didn't

The one about dogs in autumn is just as bad. I was going to post about it typically xpuldnt find it to take a screenshot.

Show us your dog's what enjoying autumn?

CeliaCanth · 05/11/2024 11:56

Isn't the dog one "Show us how your dog is enjoying autumn" as opposed to "show us your dogs enjoying autumn"?

MagpiePi · 05/11/2024 12:02

I thought they had changed it to 'Show us how your dog is enjoying autumn' but have screenshotted the 'show us your dog's...' one 15 minutes ago.

There’s nothing grammatically wrong with it, but I get irrationally cross whenever I see “let it look around, smell all the smells”

That's one of my favourite humorous film moments ever. I did Latin at school and it's just so spot on. 😂

Grrrrrrrrrr

RosesAndHellebores · 05/11/2024 12:09

Proportionately fewer people on MNet nowadays who would identify the issue. I miss the old days.

ReadWithScepticism · 05/11/2024 12:09

The dog thing is grammatically correct, but how is a dog supposed to enjoy autumn? Mine's not so good at understanding the annual leaf-loss pattern of deciduous trees or picking up on symbolism to do with death and rebirth, or getting excited about new pencil cases at the start of the school year. Even though he is quite an intelligent breed.

I'll take it over the horrendously irritating random full screen ads that have suddenly started appearing.

Yes there is! Teen's should be Teens

Mizzarde · 05/11/2024 12:22

Teen's deserve apostrophe's!

BIWI · 05/11/2024 12:23

Don't give in. Before you know it, they'll be asking for semi-colons.

Every time I see that I think of Paul McKenna
