I wonder whether A' levels is a hangover from the old days.

When I did mine in the 1970s I seem to remember them being referred to as 'O' levels and 'A' levels.

Surely G.C.S.E.s should be acceptable as they're abbreviations? Not that I'd write that - too long-winded.
