ground vs floor

Could everyone please stop calling the ground (outside) the floor??? Now even the BBC is doing it!

Are they??

That’s DH’s pet hate.

Floors are man made and can be at any level. The ground is the surface of the earth.

Add roof & ceiling!!!

Drives me NUTS!!

Ground - outside in the fresh air, and anyone calling it the floor is an idiot.

Floor - anywhere else.

I’ve only ever come across it on Mn, but yes, maddening!

Never come across it, nor roof and ceiling. How can you confuse roof and ceiling?!

Ground/floor confusion shows up on Mn all the time, which I’ve read as suggesting it’s widespread. Things like ‘I tripped on the edge of the pavement and spilled my chips all over the floor’.

Ha, I wrote the same thing a while back. It’s definitely becoming more common, I hear it on tv all the time.
