'Changing schools - how much does it really EFFECT them?'

Affect is the verb. Effect is a noun.

And the mistake wasn't in the original post either.

Oooooh, heads will roll at MN Towers over this.

Sad
naturalblonde · 12/04/2008 20:32

It's been changed now {smile]

LittleWonder · 12/04/2008 20:34

You were joking weren't you? It says affect and probably did before, no?

Mhamai · 12/04/2008 20:38

I'm a bit worried. I haven't started drinking yet but I still haven't a clue what this thread is about.

Mhamai · 12/04/2008 20:38

Mhamai · 12/04/2008 20:38

I'm so worried, I said it twice!

FrannyandZooey · 12/04/2008 20:40

AND they have changed theyoungvisiter's name to 'theyoungvisitor'

they obviously think they have corrected it but now it is WRONG

Mhamai · 12/04/2008 20:40

Doh! I was reading the thread wrong way up and thought the thread was about the shocked face emoticon.

LittleWonder · 12/04/2008 20:41

I have opened my wine - goes rather well with some painkillers I am on... I must go back to your other thread to find out about yiour day, but this one is like this:

The wine may Affect you (verb)
you may feel the Effect of the wine [noun]

changing schools can affect you but not effect you. Clear as mud now?

Mhamai · 12/04/2008 20:45

I really do hope the wine will affect me later on where hopefully I will feel the full effects of it. Yay! My first pedant lesson.

beckyvicky · 13/04/2008 11:07

No - it's back again Sunday morning. Help!

StealthPolarBear · 13/04/2008 11:09

No I noticed this last night and can only assume they are doing it as a bet to see how quickly this thread was started

fembear · 13/04/2008 12:18

What's going on!?

It was 'effect' -wrong
Changed to 'affect' - correct
Is now 'effect' again - still wrong!!

Also F&Z is correct about The Young Visiter: I assume that it is a literary reference but, even if it isn't, it's not up to MN Towers to change a poster's spelling of her own name. IF MNHQ is that fussed about spelling, can they please get a full-time member of staff to sort out Cod's effusions!

MrsWeasley · 13/04/2008 12:23

I love these threads it is the only time I look at the homepage

StealthPolarBear · 13/04/2008 13:45

I'm assuming there has been something up with versioning, maybe?

popsycal · 13/04/2008 14:06

I just saw that too

Caz10 · 14/04/2008 10:14

and gone again...

LittleWonder · 15/04/2008 17:25

They have changed it back to the wrong thing again - what is this?
