Pedants' corner

sorry, sorry, sorry.... but it's bugging me. If something is baggy it is LOOSE. When you have mislaid something, the word is LOSE.

Hear, hear, squonk. It makes me 'loose' my mind.

And while we're here, what about NOT using apostrophe S at the end of car names:

Merc's
BMW's
Ford's

They'll be renaming the Greengrocer's Apostrophe the Car Dealer's Apostrophe!

One petrol station I go to regularly has a poster up (very nicely printed etc) which says "Lock it, don't loose it". I fizz quietly ever time I go there...

I would have to graffiti the extra 'o' out of that sign

And while we're on the subject, Muslims also use muslins. OK?

I wish I'd kept more of my old muslins. They are so useful. I still have some terry nappies which are great round the house, especially for mopping up spilt drinks.

lizandlulu - no, this thread was absolutely not aimed at you.

I promise.

(but if you've been putting "loose" instead of "lose" then it was a pleasure to be at your service )
