'Out of' out of fashion?

What has happened to that simple word 'of' preceded by 'out'?
I've seen three threads today with titles referring to 'out the ...'

Apart from it migrating to 'off of' which seems to be increasingly common in print, I'm thinking its near extinction cannot be far off.

I guess some of it is colloquial speech.

"I booted him out the door," is okay, as reported speech but I'd expect to read "I went out OF the door", if I was reading a book.
