I want to gift a friend a painting I have made.
On the message do I say
'Especially for you' or 'Specially for you'?
Thanks Pedants

Specially - if you say especially it would mean it's for lots of people but mostly for your friend.

Perfect
Thank you

I'd have said the opposite! So I googled it and got:
Specially means “for a special reason” or “to a special or unusual degree.” Especially means “more than usually” or “for a particular purpose or person.”

If you painted it for her, it should be especially.

But I think there's enough ambiguity that either would be fine.

I'd prefer, "This is for you," plus her name, or "I painted this for you {add name}."

I would have said Especially for you like the Kylie and Jason song

I think if you say "for you" you don't need "especially" because "for you" means that.
