Well, it’s certainly more colourful, @HoppingPavlova , but I still don’t see what’s wrong with ‘giving birth’.

I agree. But then I hate any noun being unnecessarily turned into a verb, like “gifting”. We already had the word “giving”.

I think there are plenty situations where it is fine and I wouldn't use "giving birth": as a gerund, as an adjective, etc.

You do realise that "gift" has been used as a verb since 1608 (source: hard copy OED)? I know it can take a while for neologisms to be fully accepted, but I think four centuries ought to be enough
