Only fiction can arrive in the form of episodes

I follow a youtuber who does cooking and household tips. He always starts with 'in this episode...', which sounds totally wrong to me.

In my mind, only fiction can appear as 'episodes'. The News, for instance is 'tonight's edition'. If they said episode it would sound like a soap opera.

Am I right?

How would you describe each programme in a nature documentary series? I'd call them episodes.

I'd say not. For sure, stories can be divided into episodes, but a series of related events are also, surely, episodes.

Caprisunny · 12/08/2023 17:55

I disagree.

Theres nothing about the word episode that lends itself to fiction only.

This is exactly what I thought. All documentaries have episodes.
