"Why Not Paint Me"?
'Why Not Paint Me'?

Or should the question mark come before the ' or " ?
Thanks Pedants

Why have you got speech marks?
The question mark should be within them

Meatus · 11/08/2023 17:57

“Why not paint me?”

Thelonelygiraffe · 11/08/2023 18:05

Agree with Meatus: punctuation goes inside closing quotes.

Thelonelygiraffe · 11/08/2023 18:07

Single quotes are standard in the UK. Some publishers use double quotes for speech, but this is mainly for kids' books.

What is the title? An artwork? If so, go with the original title of the artwork. They often use non-standard grammar and punctuation.

It's the name of a business.

No need for the quotes if it's a business name, surely? So just Why Not Paint Me?

It's the name of a business.

You don’t need speech marks, then?

peasandpetals · 11/08/2023 18:14

Thank you all.
I'm sorted now.

Sounds like a dodgy massage parlour!
