Effect is a verb whereas affect is a noun... In the majority of situations, that will be correct.

margoandjerry · 19/02/2008 20:23

I think it's the other way round KacyB.

Sunshine affects growth (verb)

The effect is pronounced (noun)

flowerybeanbag · 19/02/2008 20:23

other way round surely?

KacyB · 19/02/2008 20:25

Sorry, my mistake!!

It's the other way round!!!!!!!!!!

to be topical the greenhouse effect is the result - the amount of co2 in the atmosphere is affecting the world's temperature.

Threadworm · 19/02/2008 20:30

And just to confuse matters, effect is sometimes a verb; and affect is sometimes a noun.

JingleyJen · 19/02/2008 20:32

Common I thought you lot would be able to make it clear for me!
