Elongating words using the 'e' on the end

This casual form of lengthening a word on social media drives me mad.

For example, "It's HUGEEEEEE!"

It sounds like you're saying "hugey". Why not write, "huuuuge"?

I can see why that is annoying. I haven’t seen it very often. I hope it doesn’t catch on.

Yes, I've noticed this too. I agree with you, it's annoying and makes me want to read it wrong.
