I'm doing coursework - I need help it's not 'acting as' because I want them to 'be' it - what word do I need?

Not 'acting as a manager' because that would imply she isn't & she is pretending to be

but 'being a manager' doesn't really work - what do I want to say?

Within the time scales set in the appraisal we reviewed and discussed the work. Some, newsletters & menus were being completed, others, timetables and accounts were not.

Inthe role of manager , operatingn as manager ? Does n't it need to be "Some objectives" - "work" sems too general .
