It's 8th centile (etc), not percentile. Can't imagine anyone else cares, but I do.

Oh dear me

I thought it was the same?
Isn't it just a shortened way of saying it?

Haha, brilliant.

This guy on my FB tried to slate MP's for saying alleluia and not hallelujah, re: how stupid they were. I love it.

I consider alleluia and hallelujah to be different versions of the same thing and both to be acceptable. I pronounce hallelujah in exactly the same way that I pronounce alleluia except for making an h sound at the front.

This has reminded me that there's a lovely bit in "The Way of All Flesh" by Samuel Butler where the clergyman keeps being encouraged to adopt 'high church' practices like chanting, turning to the east when saying the creed, and calling it 'the creed' rather than 'the belief'.

It ends with a comment that his daughter tried to make him say 'alleluia' rather than 'hallelujah' but that this was going too far!
