A banner’s appeared saying POPULAR: 8 PEOPLE ARE VIEWING THIS RIGHT NOW.

Yes, but not for the reasons you want them to be viewing it…

The threat from alliums (allia??) to boobs is real.

thecurtainsofdestiny · 22/05/2022 15:52

Years ago I read about people being freed from the "yolk of slavery".

Then there’s the classic ‘bare with me’ where the writer never has any intention of stripping off.

The right to 'bare' arms is popular at the moment...

Abra1d1 · 26/05/2022 09:36

The Queen was instructed to 'reign in' Prince Andrew on MN earlier this year.

PedantScorner · 26/05/2022 09:36

I defend my right to bare arms but I draw the line at using my bra as a vegetable rack

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 26/05/2022 12:21

Yes, the right not to wear sleeves!

PedantScorner · 26/05/2022 12:25

I am wearing long sleeves and my bra could probably store a couple of marrows but my rites must be defended

Strugglingtodomybest · 26/05/2022 12:31

Aw they changed it!

JackieWeaver101 · 10/06/2022 21:03

mis-spellings?

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 10/06/2022 21:04

Was it "leek"?

PedantScorner · 02/08/2022 14:08

Saw this in the newspaper today
"She was shown how to sew the endangered plants by Ben Carnegie-Bedlow, a 12-year-old Jersey schoolboy, and followed his instructions while working on a mat."

I was a bit puzzled, imagining her suturing a leaf or appliqueing it to the mat or something.

soulinablackberrypie · 01/11/2022 09:42

"Vocal chords" is the one that always half amuses and half annoys me.

Babdoc · 01/11/2022 09:48

soulina, that reminds me of the time many years ago when the Times published an article about a nun who apparently suffered a “fractured clavichord”! Not a homophone, but still made me giggle.

squashyhat · 16/12/2022 12:00

A greengrocer in Reigate many years ago had a box of green and yellow vegetables labelled 'gawds'.

The Queen was instructed to 'reign in' Prince Andrew on MN earlier this year.

Ah, I didn't know that the Queen used to be on MN!

I have been an English teacher for 30 years and have a PhD in Applied Linguistics but wasn’t sure about vocal cords and had to Google it. For every mistake other people make that we think is incredibly basic and sloppy there is underlying genuine ignorance, in the true sense of ignorance, ie. not stupidity or laziness but simply not knowing.
