Everyone is wanting

Maybe I'm being unreasonable but it annoys the hell out of me. I feel like I'm increasingly seeing "wanting" used. "I'm wanting to sell my wedding dress", "I'm wanting a birthday cake made". I see it constantly, everywhere.

It's one of those things like "what was you doing" or "I seen you" that just kind of makes my jaw itch. It's so irritating. AIBU?

You are quite right Op everyone is indeed wanting or perhaps needing to improve their grammar. Although I am ashamed to admit my own grammar is wanting at times!

I think you're being unreasonable.

There is nothing inherently wrong with 'I am wanting' instead of 'I want'. It's just the same as 'I am hoping' instead of 'I hope'.

I would be much more likely to say 'I am hoping to sell my wedding dress' than 'I am wanting to ...' but I can't see that wanting is wrong.

It's nothing like 'What was you doing' and 'I seen you', both of which are completely wrong
