'Fount' instead of found

Make it stop!!

I don't know if this is just where I live but it's driving me crackers! I keep seeing it on a local group.

Example: "my dog went missing but he's been fount" or "I fount someone's keys in the car park"

It makes me want to scream. Don't judge, this is posted in Pedant's Corner 😁

I’ve never seen this one, perhaps it is a local thing?

I had to reply just to point out that it is pedants’ corner, not pedant’s. There are many pedants, not one. Grin Grin

I haven't seen this but will now be looking out for it. To be honest, most things written on social media make me want to poke my eyeballs with cocktail sticks these days.

I think this is regional. Northern England?

No, much further south! Maybe it happens in more than one region? Either way, everyone who says it or types it needs to stop! Grin

Is this in the Black Country? Not unusual to pronounce found as fount there, but I’m not sure I’ve ever seen it written down.

No, it's the East Anglia region. I see so many people type it, but only in the last few months, as if it's become a 'thing' suddenly.

I'll be honest, I've never seen it written, but when I was a teacher the kids drove me mad with "I ain't got a pen miss...oh I've fount it". This is deepest East Mids if that helps.
