Ques for Queues

In relation to the fuel situation, I'm seeing loads of people writing 'que', ques' or worst of all 'que's'. It's not isolated. Is this abbreviation accepted and it's passed me by?

It’s not an abbreviation, it’s a common misspelling. I’m told it can be due to dyslexia which is obviously fine but it’s so common that I can’t put it just down to that.

I wonder if so many people are doing it that it's catching on as acceptable

I am sure it's a misspelling but it would make so much sense to abbreviate it to Q.

I keep seeing it as 'cue' on my local fab

It tends to be a mistyping that autocorrect thinks is ok, so it doesnt get changed (or underlined).

The role of tech in spreading typos shouldn't be underestimated

On a forum, if I can understand what the poster is saying, it doesn’t matter.

I've seen it so often I briefly wondered if it's me who's spelling it wrong!

Cue too ... I'm wondering if it's half deliberate because people think it's amusing - I spell check posts, but then I use punctuation in text messages!

Yes and many people think cue should be spelt like that as well. Both are incorrect but it is easy to understand what they mean.

I read it in the voice of Manuel from Fawlty Towers and have a little giggle each time. Which given that there is a fuel crisis, food crisis, no reliable opposition and we're yet again relying on Johnson to "save" Christmas, is no bad thing.
