I keep seeing people using this, not just on MN, when they mean ‘cliquey’. It’s one of those misspellings that makes my teeth itch.

I think the culprits usually mispronounce it as well. Both are on my pet hates list.

It's a MN (and not only) in-joke. Do you actually think MNers think that a "clique" is spelled "quiche" too? We've been calling them "quiches" for about 16 years. No eggs have been hurt in the process.

@Geamhradh, I was certainly around for the click/quiche in-jokes (or their aftermath where the joke was clear, as I’ve not been here 16 years), but there is a significant number of users, possibly much more recent members and most of whose reading is online, who are not joking and think it is spelled ‘click’. Their posts are often very anguished about school runs and friendship exclusions, and they’re not being funny.
