What do?

I've recently started to see the phrase, "What do?" used to mean "What should I do?" on Facebook.

Is this text speak, laziness or an Americanism?

I haven’t come across it. I imagine it’s just short-hand. I sometimes text ‘how do?’ to, e.g. DH.

I love how such changes get blamed on Americans. Grin

I notice you started your post with "I've" rather than "I have". Is that due to laziness?

I'm happy to blame the Americans much of the time (why do they just drop letters - 'flavor', 'color', 'behavior'??) but honestly I've never heard this before in this context.

I have however used it amongst friends - we greet each other with "How do?" rather than "How do you do?". No, we're not remotely 'posh', it started as a joke!
