I was at a market over the weekend and I felt in the mood for some junk food. The only one within sight was called ...

ALS BURGERS.

I didn't go there, of course!

do thread titles count?

If so, there's this one here

I know it's hardly the same thing as shop signs and business letters though!

Every newsletter which we receive from Nursery is full of misuse of commas and poor spelling... but I bet that's another thread

not an apostrophe one but:-

'open till 10pm'

shouldn't that be:-

'open 'til 10pm'?

I would ban them, they annoy me. I'm sure I would be able to understand without them! (I like a nice semi-colon though).

Our local market place sports a coffee shop that sells "tea's" - with "tea's" expensively etched into their glass frontage. Makes me cringe whenever I walk past.

I do believe many people think there is a rule that when the word ends in a vowel, you MUST place an apostrophe afterwards.

I read of a greengrocer with a sign up reading "Carrot's" - but all the other signs had appropriately positioned apostrophes. When a customer pointed out the error, he pointed out his name was Mr Carrot so calling his shop "Carrot's" was fine.

Marvellous! Either someone with a droll sense of irony, or he was so fed up with pedants pointing out his error that he decided to just lie. Either way, he'd get my custom.

DD has a bib from BHS emblazoned with the legend

'Its a Pirates Life for me'.

Do they not proofread their bibs?
