Pedants' corner

An incorrect answer or badly worded question?

Can any of the pedant's here help me with this. I did this stupid quiz on Yahoo on animal trivia but was unfairly prevented (in my view) from getting 100% by them wrongly marking an answer, as below:

Dogs’ sense of smell is no better than human beings’, they just like to sniff things, true or false?
Your answer: False
Correct answer: True
Dogs' sense of smell is up to 40 times stronger than humans.

Now it seems obvious to me that it is the statement about dogs' sense of smell that is false not the fact. Am I right or wrong on this and if so how can I appeal?

I'm confused. Are you saying that you answered "false" and their answer was true? I would have answered as false.

SleepingStandingUp · 05/03/2021 18:10

Dogs’ sense of smell is no better than human beings’, they just like to sniff things, true or false? So the question is dogs SOS is not better than ours. Which is wrong so false.
Your answer: False
Correct answer: True
Dogs' sense of smell is up to 40 times stronger than humans.

Sounds like the thing marks wrongly, DH has this occasionally on school quizzes so I just message the teacher and let her know

how can I appeal?
You've done it. Appeal upheld. You scored 100%. Well done you

Their explanation contradicts their answer (but YABU to write pedant's Wink ).

InsufferablePerformanceFather · 05/03/2021 18:24

It's a mistake. The statement is false.

Yes exactly, I answered 'false'. They marked me as incorrect, I am mortified.

Oh God!. I would do that in Pedant's Corner. I was thinking of the dog's apostrophe. Now I am twice mortified. Is that possible?
