I just can't let it go and 'party' on...

My absolute pet hate is the use of party as a verb. It is a noun or an adjective to me. Not a verb.

Today the Guardian has used it as a verb in a headline. I am more annoyed than I perhaps should be. Does this mark me as old? Is everyone using it as a verb these days? I've even heard my mum say it and she is in her 80s!

Tell it to Prince.

I rather like party as a verb Blush

It’s been used as a verb since at least as far back as the 1920s, according to the OED. You may need to get with the times and party on, dude. 😉

I hadn't thought of the Prince song which I am old enough to remember from its' initial release.

I didn't realise it had even 30 years usage never mind a century...Blush

OMG it's not the youth of today it's me isn't it? I will work on accepting it but don't ever expect me to SAY it! Shock
