Gotten - Why?!

It's been used in the States for quite a while and seems normal when you hear Americans saying it but it's creeping over here now.

He's gotten himself some new friends...

Well, at least some interesting points have been made! What "irritates" people is all well and good, but the argument kind of loses its credibility when it's something that's perfectly correct!

I gotten myself irritated with the word 'gotten' partly because it is like 'rotten', therefore I gotten myself irradiated with 'gotten'.

Regarding the story that Eve had a baby with Adam, then saying she had got a man from the Lord, was she saying that she considered Adam to be the Lord? Wow...
